Strep A Test

A rapid test to detect the presence of group A streptococcus bacteria, which can cause strep throat and other infections including scarlet fever, abscesses, and pneumonia.

About

Group A streptococcus is a common bacteria causing acute pharyngitis, tonsillitis, impetigo, and scarlet fever. Although these infections are more common in children, adults can still be affected. Strep A can be spread through close contact, coughing, sneezing or from a wound.

Early diagnosis and treatment will reduce the severity of symptoms and any further complications such as rheumatic fever and glomerulonephritis. The Strep A self-test facilitates an early diagnosis at the first sign of symptoms.

Symptoms to look out for:

  • Flu-like symptoms, such as a high temperature, swollen glands or an aching body
  • Sore throat (strep throat or tonsillitis)
  • A rash that feels rough, like sandpaper (scarlet fever)
  • Scabs and sores (impetigo)
  • Pain and swelling (cellulitis)
  • Severe muscle aches
  • Nausea and vomiting

All these tests can be conducted from the comfort of home, saving time and money, and delivering results within a few minutes.
